At FAMA HOUSE, your privacy is treated with the same care as everything else here. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it.

This policy applies to famahouse.com, our forms, our emails, and any trip, event or gathering organised under the FAMA HOUSE name.

1. Who we are

Pilates Society sessions and local events in the EU are organised by Janine Carolina Palacio Collado, Swedish sole trader (enskild firma), as a Swedish operating arm of FAMA HOUSE. For enquiries about EU-based events, write to the same address: hola@famahouse.com.

For purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), FAMA HOUSE LLC is the controller for the website, international trips and membership. The Swedish operating arm is controller for Pilates Society sessions and local EU events.

2. What we collect

2.1 When you apply to join a trip or the club

Through our application and join forms we collect:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • City of residence
  • Instagram or LinkedIn handle (if you share it)
  • Occupation or short description of your work
  • Your reason for applying (free-text letter)
  • Dietary restrictions and allergies
  • Health conditions you choose to share (optional)
  • Pilates experience level (for Pilates Society and Tulum)
  • Consent to be filmed during Entre Nos recordings (optional)
  • Interest in brand collaborations (optional)
  • How you heard about us

2.2 When you communicate with us

If you email or message us, we collect the content of your messages and whatever contact details you share.

2.3 When you visit our website

Automatically through Squarespace: IP address, browser type, device, pages visited, referring source.

2.4 Special category data (health)

Information about allergies, dietary restrictions and health conditions is "special category data" under GDPR Article 9. We collect it only with your explicit consent, given through a dedicated checkbox on the form, for the purpose of safely planning your trip.

3. Why we collect it (legal basis)

  • Process your application → Contract (Art. 6(1)(b))
  • Plan your trip → Contract (Art. 6(1)(b))
  • Allergies / health → Explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a))
  • Trip emails → Contract (Art. 6(1)(b))
  • Newsletters → Legitimate interest, with opt-out
  • Entre Nos recordings → Explicit consent
  • Tax, accounting → Legal obligation

4. How long we keep it

  • Application data: 24 months from last contact
  • Trip bookings and payment records: 7 years (tax law)
  • Health data: deleted within 30 days after trip ends
  • Entre Nos recordings: indefinitely, with consent — may be withdrawn
  • Newsletter list: until you unsubscribe

5. Who we share it with

Only with trusted parties, only to the extent needed:

  • Squarespace (website host)
  • Google Workspace (email)
  • Trip partners (hotel, villa, operators) — minimum data for your reservation
  • Stripe (payment processor)
  • Tax authorities when legally required

We never sell your data. We never share it with brand partners for marketing without your explicit opt-in.

6. International transfers

Some data moves between the US and the EU. Transfers outside your home jurisdiction are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.

7. EU representative

As FAMA HOUSE LLC is based outside the EU, we are in the process of appointing a formal EU representative under GDPR Article 27. In the meantime, EU subjects may contact our Swedish operating arm or hola@famahouse.com directly.

8. Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, port, object, and withdraw consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you are a California resident you also have CCPA rights: to know what we collect, to delete, to opt out of sale (we do not sell your data), and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.

To exercise any right, write to hola@famahouse.com with the subject "Privacy request". We respond within 30 days.

10. Children

FAMA HOUSE is designed for adult women. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted data to us, write to hola@famahouse.com and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We update this page when it changes. Material changes are emailed to active members and applicants.
